If Wireshark captures data that doesn’t match the filters, it won’t save them, and you won’t see them. These filters are applied before capturing data. Wireshark filters can be divided into capture and display filters.
One of the reasons Wireshark is one of the most famous protocol analyzers today is its ability to apply various filters to the captured packets. Once you’re done capturing packets, you can use the same buttons/shortcuts to stop capturing. While capturing, Wireshark will display all the captured packets in real-time. The second one is tapping “Capture” and then tapping “Start.” The third way to start capturing is by tapping “Ctrl + E.” You can do this in several ways: The first one is by tapping the shark fin icon at the top-left corner. If you want, you can analyze multiple network connections at once by pressing “Shift + Left-click.” You’ll see a list of available network connections you can examine.But unfortunately, Wireshark doesn't let me see packets for some reason. So I know Packet capture works on my Macbook main wifi interface en0. In Wireshark I was simply connecting to SSID to capture packets and was able to see the live capture. As most of you might know, Airtool works by specifying channel and channel width. It creates a file that is opened by Wireshark.
However, I verified if packets capture was still available on en0 interface using ''Airtool'' application and it is in fact capturing packets. I haven't done any update of MacOS nor Wireshark. Since a week, I'm unable to see over the air packets even if en0 interface is detected and still can see traffic. I was simply connecting to different SSIDs and was able to start capture with Monitor Mode On in Wireshark (2.6.6) I was always able to get wifi capture with it using wifi main interface en0. I have a very strange problem with my Macbook running macOS High Sierra (10.13.6).
